Thales

Thales is one of the biggest European Technology Companies in the field Aerospace, Defence, Digital Identity and Transportation systems.

In essence we are a Data Company, making Data with our Sensors, distribution Data via our Network and Transmitter Systems, protecting Data from physical to cyber, and transforming Data into Information. This in order to protect our clients or enable our clients to protect us. In the Netherlands we exist already over 100 years and are (un)known for our Radars, and perhaps the System behind the OV card. But we do much more ranging from Cyber security crypto solutions, Cryogenic Space Coolers to the Driving Licences. Our motto is ‘Tomorrow Today’ which means innovation via RD&T is in the core DNA of our company. We are in the top 10 of Dutch companies on RD&T investments. The basis of our innovations are based on the field of physics and mathematics and in this lunch lecture we will give you a glimpse why Students of the Leidsche Flesch could be interested in a career at Thales.

Belastingdienst (workshop)

Workshop by Vincent Groeneveld and Fred Dijk

Vincent got his master's degree in Astronomy from the UvA and is currently working for the Dutch Tax Authorities as a Government trainee. Fred is an experienced Data Modeller.

Both take part in the “Data Innovation” program where cutting edge modelling techniques are all present. Our colleagues are out of the box thinkers with a blend of academical backgrounds. Hence an inspiring environment to learn, deliver and grow.

We would like to explain the reason why behind this program. In depth we would like to discuss the function  of Data Modeling together. So how to record knowledge in models and how to reuse it digitally.

This is something that requires broad analytical skills we expect to be around in the audience.  In the workshop we will learn and experience together what modeling means. We expect an open interaction where we can have an inspiring meeting with eachother. And to explore if modelling in this respect is something that suits you.

Hope to meet you,

Vincent and Fred
